Aston Villa close to agreeing €3.5m exit for fringe player

Aston Villa reportedly have an agreement in principle with Trabzonspor for the signing of Trezeguet this summer.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Basaksehir, and after impressing during his brief stint it appears as though he has attracted interest from elsewhere.

According to Sabah Spor [via Sport Witness], Villa have an agreement in principle with Trabzonspor over a €3.5m exit for Trezeguet.

Given the Egyptian international has just a year remaining on his current contract, has battled his way back from a serious injury and has slipped far down the pecking order at Villa, an exit appears to be the best solution for all parties concerned.

It’s added in the report above that Trezeguet will travel with his agent to Turkey to secure an agreement on personal terms, and he will most likely now look forward to a new challenge ahead of the new season.

Having been a pivotal part of the squad in our first year back in the Premier League, Trezeguet has seen the arrivals of top players in his department push him down the pecking order with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Emiliano Buendia set to feature heavily ahead of him moving forward.

In turn, Villa will want to pocket a decent fee, the player himself will want a more prominent role and Trabzonspor will seemingly sign a player who has proven he can deliver in the Turkish top flight.

With that in mind, an exit seems highly likely, and Villa fans will certainly wish Trezeguet all the best in his future, as he played a key part in our progression to this point.
