Aston Villa have officially confirmed the appointment of Unai Emery as the club’s new Head Coach to replace Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard left the club following an underwhelming 11 months in charge after our defeat to Fulham last Thursday, with Villa struggling just above the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

Interim boss Aaron Danks stepped in for our encounter with Brentford at the weekend and inspired an impressive performance as we ran out 4-0 winners and secured three vital points.
However, the search for a long-term successor to Gerrard has continued in the meantime, and the club have now confirmed that Emery has been appointed as our new Head Coach and will start work on November 1 after his work permit formalities are completed.
Aside from his previous stint at Arsenal where he gained valuable experience of managing in England, Emery has enjoyed significant success during spells with Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal.
Among his honours are four Europa League titles, a Ligue 1 crown and countless domestic trophies in France.
With his experience and pedigree at the top level, it’s an ambitious and high-profile appointment from Villa and the hope will be that we kick on now under his stewardship as he’ll have undoubtedly agreed to a long-term project.
Given the timing of when he will begin in the position, his first game as Villa boss will come against Man Utd at Villa Park on November 6, and so it promises to be a big occasion as we look finish strongly ahead of the break for the World Cup.
