Villa step up bid to secure influential figure’s future in key deal

Aston Villa have reportedly offered a new contract to midfielder Boubacar Kamara, with his current deal set to expire in 2027.

The 25-year-old has firmly established himself as a pivotal figure since arriving in July 2022, as he has gone on to make 87 appearances for the club and has had a hugely important influence in our midfield.

From his defensive strengths and ability to shield the backline to his technical quality and composure in possession to give us control and a solid foundation in the heart of Unai Emery’s side, there is no playing down just how important the Frenchman has been, and will continue to be, in our progress under the Villa boss.

Having struck up critical partnerships with the likes of Douglas Luiz and now Youri Tielemans, Kamara has been a pillar of our side over a consistent period, and having fully recovered from a serious injury that he sustained last year, he’s once again playing at a high level and also showcasing versatility and tactical intelligence to continue to be a key piece in Emery’s puzzle.

Although there is still some time to go before his current contract runs down, securing his long-term future will continue to be a fundamental piece of business from the club’s perspective, and as per The Athletic, Villa have now stepped up that effort by offering Kamara a new contract, with talks said to be ongoing between the two parties.

There is no doubt that the French international will attract significant interest from top clubs around Europe given his form over the past few years, and his talent and ability certainly warrant continuing to play at the very highest level.

With Villa going for FA Cup and Champions League glory still this season coupled with our late push to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League to ensure we’re at Europe’s top table again next season, there is so much to play for and perhaps we’ll have to wait until the season is over before focus switches to off-the-pitch matters.

That said, it would be some boost if we could agree terms with Kamara before that for him to commit his long-term future to us, as that would not only give all concerned a major boost heading into a decisive final stretch of the campaign, but it would be a clear indication of the ambition and belief that our most important individuals have in the club’s project and vision for the future, and critically, our ability to execute that vision with our ownership, management and Emery leading the way.
