Aston Villa are reportedly poised to agree an early termination of our contract with manufacturer Castore, after complaints were lodged over the current shirts.
Disapproval has been building over the past week, after complaints were made by both the men’s and women’s teams over the wet-look of the shirts given how they retain significant levels of sweat.

The problem was seemingly evident during our pre-season tour of the USA and so it’s questionable in some ways that it has taken this long to come to a head, but as per The Telegraph, it’s now been reported that Villa and Castore are set to agree on an early termination of their contract.
It’s noted that the termination is likely to come into effect at the end of this season, while the manufacturer is expected to try and find a solution for the current shirt in the short-term.
Putting the comfort aspect aside which is also important for high-level athletes, it could arguably impact performance too given just how much sweat is seemingly retained by the shirt as it can’t be easy for the players if that amount of body heat and moisture in kept in by the fabric.
In turn, it’s hoped that a quick solution can be found for this weekend and the remainder of the campaign, while we’ll wait to see if the termination is made official and who will subsequently replace Castore as our new kit manufacturer moving forward.
Villa and Castore signed a multi-year deal in May 2022, but that agreement appears set to come to a premature end, and it will be another key change made by ownership and the new-look management infrastructure, with any new deal hopefully proving to be as economically beneficial while also producing a product that is fit for purpose.
