Aston Villa’s opponents in the Champions League have been confirmed, with marquee ties against Bayern Munich and Juventus to look forward to.
As has been well documented, the format of Europe’s premier club competition has changed this season, as it’s moved away from a group stage to a league format instead, and so Villa will play a minimum of eight games in the competition.

After the draw was concluded in Monaco on Thursday evening, Villa’s upcoming opponents in the Champions League have been confirmed as below:
vs Bayern (H)
vs RB Leipzig (A)
vs Club Brugge (A)
vs Juventus (H)
vs Young Boys (A)
vs Celtic (H)
vs Bologna (H)
vs Monaco (A)
The fixture list with match dates and kick-off times will be announced by UEFA on Saturday, August 31, and so these fixtures aren’t necessarily in the order above, as they are subject to change due to potential scheduling issues.
Nevertheless, the wait to determine who we will face is finally over, and naturally there are marquee ties against Bayern Munich, Juventus and Celtic to get excited by at home, and although every game at this level is going to be a tough test, the remaining fixtures are arguably all winnable on paper.
In turn, it’s a brilliant draw from a Villa perspective as it ticks a lot of the boxes hoped for, but naturally, the objective and full focus will be on getting positive results and advancing to the knockout stage, as Unai Emery and his squad look to create more history and hopefully lead us on a memorable deep run in the Champions League this season.
While the target will be to qualify for the next stage automatically through a top-eight finish, Villa will surely fancy their chances of at least finishing between ninth and 24th to contest the knockout phase playoffs to try and reach the last 16.
