Aston Villa have been linked with a move to add Francesco Calvo to our management structure after reports that he has resigned from his position at Juventus.
Villa confirmed last month that Chris Heck would be leaving the club at the end of the season, thus leaving the position of President of Business Operations open.

Albeit it’s been a contentious tenure given some of his decisions and the impact those have had on supporters, Heck has overseen an important period of growth for the club, and the work he has done will hopefully solidify our position as a genuine contender on and off the pitch in the coming years.
Villa noted at the time of announcing his departure that the search for his successor was already underway with the hope that an appointment would be made well ahead of the 2025/26 season, and speculation is suggesting that Calvo could be the candidate to fill the void.
As per Calciomercato, he has resigned from his position at Juventus as their Managing Director of Revenue and Football Development, with the expectation being that he is ready to join Villa and potentially fill the same position left behind by Heck.
Calvo has a business background and has held various positions at Juventus including Commercial Director, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief of Staff and Chief Football Officer before taking up his most recent role, while he has also had spells at Barcelona and Roma, and so it’s hoped that he has accrued significant experience and know-how to ensure he maximises our opportunities moving forward to help continue the growth of the club, should he arrive.
Naturally, there will be some caution until we see what Heck’s successor does in the job once appointed, but if it’s a decision made by owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, given how they’ve run the club up to this point, there is confidence in their ability to identify and hire the right people to continue to take the club forward and it’s hoped that there is synergy at all levels with the sporting side too should Calvo be appointed in the coming weeks.
