Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno is continuing to work hard over the summer break as he recovers from the injury he suffered at the end of last season.
Moreno, 30, sustained the setback in our penultimate game of the Premier League campaign away at Liverpool, as after an awkward landing while making a key clearance, he was unable to continue and needed assistance as he made his way off the pitch.

Villa boss Unai Emery confirmed to reporters the following week that the Spaniard underwent surgery on his hamstring, and Moreno has posted previous updates on his recovery as he has been busy at Bodymoor Heath while his teammates are on holiday or international duty.
It’s hoped that his hard work is now starting to pay off as he posted his latest update on Tuesday, as seen in the tweet below, as he added a caption of: “We continue to progress”, to several images of himself working in the gym.
Moreno made 19 Premier League appearances after his January move from Real Betis, as he quickly established himself as a stand-out performer and a key figure in Emery’s system and style of play.
In turn, it’s hoped that he can recover as soon as possible, as it will be a huge boost for both himself and us to have him back in the fold in pre-season, and potentially ready to start the new campaign.
Emery noted that his recovery would take three to four months, thus ruling him out of the start of the new season, but time will tell how Moreno is faring in the coming weeks, with Emery expected to provide an update when the squad reports back for pre-season training.
Lucas Digne will of course be available to fill in and make that position his own in Moreno’s absence, but with Ashley Young departing, it has raised question marks over whether or not Villa will look to add further depth in the full-back roles as we try to compete on multiple fronts next season.
Should Digne stay and with Moreno unlikely to miss too much football, Villa look well set at left-back, but with so much of the summer transfer window still to go, time will tell if there are changes in that department from Emery in terms of adding fresh competition and depth for Moreno, who established himself as first-choice last season.
