New injury setback for Villa ace with recovery timeline touted

Aston Villa winger Alysson has reportedly sustained another injury setback and is expected to be sidelined until after the international break.

The 19-year-old joined us from Gremio in January and there is both excitement and optimism over what he can bring to Unai Emery’s squad in the long-term future.

Unfortunately, injury troubles have limited him to just three Premier League appearances thus far, totalling 47 minutes of playing time, and further it will have been a frustrating disruption to his adaptation process in training too.

While it had been hoped that he could stay healthy and start to build momentum in the latter stages of the season, The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell reports that the Brazilian starlet has now suffered another muscle injury, which will rule him out of action until after the international break.

With Villa struggling for creativity and quality in the final third in recent months, Alysson had been seen as a fresh option that could add something different to our attack and make us more of a threat with his technical ability and creative qualities in wide areas to bring a new dynamic to our play.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to see it in action on a consistent basis as of yet as he continues to settle and get up to speed with the demands of English football off the back of a challenging campaign in Brazil, and so hopefully he can recover over the break and put himself in contention in our remaining games this season.

There was better news last week with skipper John McGinn returning from an injury layoff of his own, while Youri Tielemans is also expected to return to the fold after the upcoming break to give us a significant boost in midfield.
