Aston Villa boss Unai Emery was handed a crucial boost on his first day on the job with good news on the injury front.
The Spanish tactician will take charge of his first game as Villa boss on Sunday against Man Utd, and he’ll be busy taking a closer look at his players this week and establishing who will make his first starting XI.

In order to be in the best possible position to secure a positive result, Emery will no doubt have hoped to have a full squad at his disposal. While we’re not quite there yet with some absentees, he was handed a major boost by Boubacar Kamara.
As seen in the tweet below from the club, the Frenchman was back training with the rest of the group on Wednesday morning, with footage of the training session also showing him taking part in drills with his teammates.
Having been sidelined since our win over Southampton on September 16 with a knee injury, Kamara’s presence in the Villa midfield has been sorely missed given the level of influence he had in both phases of the game.
With a top talent and a key figure like that, Emery will hope to have him back available before the break for the World Cup, but it’s good news in itself that he’s back training with the group in another step up in his recovery, and thus a step closer to being in contention again as he could make the bench on Sunday.
Based on the footage released by Villa of the session, there was a slight concern with Emiliano Buendia appearing to have significant strapping around his knee area, but given he looked like a full participant in the drills, it doesn’t seem as though he is a doubt for the weekend.
