Villa handed crucial injury boost as key man steps up comeback

Aston Villa have been handed an injury boost as Boubacar Kamara has stepped up his recovery from a knee injury.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined since September 23 after suffering the setback in the win over Southampton, with the club later confirming that he had sustained knee ligament damage.

Naturally with the nature of the injury, it was feared that he would be sidelined for some time, but it appears as though he is making excellent progress in his recovery.

As seen in the image below, Kamara confirmed on his Instagram account that he has returned to the pitch in training, while L’Equipe have reported that he has now resumed individual training and is targeting a return to full group training on Monday.

With that in mind, he’s now expected to feature before the break for the World Cup, and it’s even suggested in the report that he could feature against Man Utd on November 6, which coincidentally will be Unai Emery’s first game in charge of Villa having been appointed as Steven Gerrard’s successor this week.

Given how long Kamara has been out of action, that seems quite optimistic as he’ll have to prove his fitness in the space of a week and so a start would seem unlikely.

Nevertheless, it’s a huge boost for Villa and Emery that he’ll potentially be at his disposal on his arrival and he’ll be able to integrate him back into the side and his plans as the Spanish tactician looks to implement his own style and identity on the group.

Kamara was highly influential for us prior to his injury setback, as he wasted no time in showing his class in midfield in both phases of the game.

With Emery potentially set to tweak our system and adopt a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2, it will be fascinating to see who fits into that best, and with everyone given a clean slate and desperately battling for a starting spot, Kamara will be itching to return to action too in order to ensure he doesn’t fall down the pecking order.
