Aston Villa team news: Quartet provide important boost ahead of Wolves

Aston Villa have confirmed a big boost on the team news front ahead of our encounter with Wolves this weekend.

Villa will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Man Utd last time out, and with our European hopes still alive with four games to go in the Premier League campaign, it’s important we pick up all three points on Saturday.

In order to have the best possible chance of doing that, Unai Emery would have been hoping for a crucial boost on the injury front, and it’s been confirmed by the club that there was good news during the course of the week.

As per Villa’s tweet below, Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara, Matty Cash and Leon Bailey all returned to training, and so now they will be assessed to determine what kind of role they will be able to play against Wolves.

Given the length of their respective absences, it’s highly unlikely that any of the quartet will be fit enough to start, but they certainly make our bench look a lot stronger if available, and they can hopefully impact the game if needed.

Should Emery decide not to risk them, they will now surely be at his disposal against Tottenham next weekend, and with showdowns with Liverpool and Brighton to follow that, it’s a huge lift for all concerned to start getting key players back.

While we enjoyed a really impressive run prior to that loss at Old Trafford, there have been signs of fatigue creeping into our performances in recent weeks, with Emery naming an unchanged side for four consecutive games.

In turn, the influx of fresh faces comes at a pivotal moment in our campaign, and it’s hoped that they can give us a big lift heading into these final matches.
