Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has seemingly allayed fears that he could be ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
As per the Athletic following our defeat to Tottenham earlier this month, it was suggested that Digne had suffered a collarbone injury with Villa boss Steven Gerrard fearing the worst in that the issue could force the Frenchman to sit out of our remaining seven games in the Premier League.

With little still to play for as our season draws to a close and the focus seemingly switches to next year with Gerrard having a summer transfer window to stamp his mark on the squad, it was still a blow that we’d be without Digne as he has struggled with fitness issues in recent weeks and hasn’t shown his best form as of yet in a Villa shirt.
Fortunately though, it doesn’t appear as though the injury is as serious as first feared, based on the updates the French international has been posting on his Instagram account.
As seen in the tweets below, he has been working hard at Bodymoor Heath during our extended break from action, and while there hasn’t been any official update provided by the club to suggest he could be in contention against Leicester City this weekend, it certainly looks promising.
With Gerrard set to talk to the media on Friday in his pre-match press conference, it will undoubtedly soon become clearer as to whether Digne has escaped a serious setback and is in indeed available for our upcoming games. For now though, the 28-year-old certainly looks as though he’s in line to be available as the initial fears appear to have been dismissed.
