Aston Villa interim boss Aaron Danks has confirmed that Lucas Digne is back in the squad this weekend while there was positive news on Boubacar Kamara too.
Villa face Newcastle Utd on Saturday afternoon with Danks taking charge of his final game ahead of Unai Emery’s official unveiling next week.

Having led us to a comprehensive win over Brentford last weekend, it’s hoped that Danks can inspire the players to deliver an equally as impressive performance this time round as we look to continue to alleviate the pressure and climb the Premier League table.
In order to have the best possible chance of doing that, he would have been hoping for a full-strength squad to choose from, and while we’re not quite there yet, there was positive news from the stand-in Villa boss in his press conference on Friday.
“It’s mostly positives, really,” Danks said, as per VillaTV. “Lucas Digne has done a full week of training back in with the group, that’s fantastic, so we welcome him back into the squad.
“Boubacar Kamara is much closer, he hasn’t trained with the team yet but he’s back out on the grass and at the back end of his rehabilitation.
“After that, it’s very much like we were last week, one or two little knocks and niggles that we’re going to have to manage through today but, on the whole, really positive.”
It’s unlikely that Digne will be match fit to be involved this weekend having been out for some time now with his ankle issue, while Kamara (knee) could be closing in on a return to action next week. In turn, while neither directly help Danks on Saturday, he’ll be delighted to have the French duo around the training ground given it’s still a boost for the squad.
Particularly though, it’s excellent news for Emery as he’ll no doubt want to take a close look at all the players at his disposal when he starts his new job, and for Digne and Kamara too, they’ll be desperate to impress him and secure their respective places in the Villa starting XI as soon as possible.
