Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is reportedly a doubt to face Crystal Palace next weekend with a hamstring injury, while Jacob Ramsey is close to completing his recovery.
Carlos, 30, had to be replaced after just 19 minutes in our defeat to Liverpool last weekend in yet another injury blow, following on from the setbacks suffered by Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings.

While Unai Emery suggested after the game at Anfield that it wasn’t a big injury, there was still concern that the Brazilian centre-half could also be sidelined for a crucial run of games in the second half of September as we compete on multiple fronts.
Carlos is currently on holiday with his family in Spain, and although he doesn’t appear to be wearing a protective brace or using crutches which is positive in itself, it has been reported that he remains a doubt to feature against Palace.
According to The Express and Star’s Matt Maher, Carlos sustained a hamstring injury against Liverpool, and so it remains to be seen if he can recover in time to feature after the international break has concluded.
Meanwhile, Maher adds that Ramsey is expected back in the next few weeks having not yet featured this season due to a foot injury he sustained while on England U21s duty over the summer.
It’s added that the 22-year-old is close to completing his recovery, and so it’s hoped that we see him back in group training at Bodymoor Heath sooner rather than later, in what would be a significant step up in his comeback.
While Villa were handed an important boss this past week with Alex Moreno resuming full training, it’s hoped that we get more positive news on the injury front in the coming days and weeks, as Emery will be eager to have as close to a fully-fit squad at his disposal as possible.
The Villa boss provided a timeline on Ramsey earlier this summer and suggested that he’d be back in training after this international break, and so he appears to be on schedule. Meanwhile, it doesn’t seem as though Carlos is a long-term concern, and so while he’ll hopefully be available on Saturday, perhaps our Europa Conference League group stage opener against Legia Warszawa is more realistic.
