Villa ace seen in part of training as Emery provides return timeline

Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey was pictured in part of training this week, with Unai Emery revealing when he expects him to return.

The 22-year-old missed the start of the season after suffering a foot injury while on England U21s duty over the summer, but he did briefly return at the end of September.

Following his goal in our 6-1 win over Brighton, it felt as though Villa were set for a crucial boost with his return to fitness and form, only for the talented ace to suffer a recurrence of the same issue, which in turn sidelined him again.

Naturally, there is likely to be some additional caution this time round to avoid Ramsey suffering another setback, but the signs are all positive this week as he continues his recovery work.

As seen in the image below, the Villa midfielder was seen participating in gym work this week as he steps up his conditioning, while we await to see when he might be back out on the grass with the rest of the group in a crucial next phase of his comeback.

Speaking ahead of our encounter with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League, Emery revealed that he expects Ramsey to be back training after the upcoming international break, at which point he will come back into contention to feature for us.

“Jacob Ramsey, after the next international break I think he’s going to be available to start training with the players and to be close to being in the squad for the matches,” Emery told the media, as per VillaTV.

The hope is that Ramsey will be knocking on the door to return from our trip to Tottenham on November 26 onwards, and that will be such an important boost for us heading into the festive period.

Coupled with Alex Moreno’s expected return to action this week, they are two fundamental players for Emery in his system and style, and both were hugely influential for us last season under the Spaniard.

While we of course have top options available already, it will mean more competition and depth, but given just how much quality they bring to the side, it will be great to see both Moreno and Ramsey back in the side in the coming weeks and months.
