Crucial Villa injury boost touted as influential ace nearing return

Aston Villa captain John McGinn is reportedly moving closer towards returning from his injury setback.

The 31-year-old has been sidelined since our defeat to Everton on January 18, and after undergoing a minor procedure on his knee, he has been a big loss in recent weeks.

Coupled with the setbacks suffered by Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans, it has had a hugely negative impact on our performances and results, and so Unai Emery will be desperate to get McGinn and Tielemans back as soon as possible, with Kamara ruled out for the remainder of the season.

While the timeframe matches up to the one that was put on McGinn at the time the Scottish international suffered the injury blow, he has seemingly hinted that he’s on the verge of coming back.

According to Justin Talks Villa, who claims to have spoken to our skipper outside of Villa Park after our 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night, McGinn is said to have revealed that he’s hopeful of returning to the squad next week.

It’s unclear as to whether he meant that would be in group training or in the actual matchday squad, but ultimately it’s a massively positive update either way that the Villa captain is nearing some form of return as we absolutely need his influence and presence back in the side.

Villa face two more decisive games next week as we travel to Lille and Manchester United in the Europa League and Premier League respectively, and while our once commanding lead over our rivals in the league has been cut down, we still hold a slender advantage heading into the final nine games of the campaign.

In turn, getting McGinn and Tielemans back as soon as possible will be critical in helping us to avoid any further slip-ups and stay on course to achieve our objectives this year.
