Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa faces an anxious wait for further news on the knee injury that he suffered against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The 24-year-old had to be replaced after 50 minutes, as after he was given treatment on his knee it was decided that he couldn’t continue before he gingerly walked off the pitch with the medical staff.

While it was hoped that it wasn’t anything too serious, Villa boss Steven Gerrard appeared to be concerned about the issue when speaking to the media after the game, as per the tweet below.
Gerrard on Konsa: “We’re concerned about Ezri. Normally, someone like him doesn't come off. We’ll send him off for an MRI scan. He’s got a problem in the knee area. We’ll know in the next 24/48 hours. I’ll be surprised if he plays again this season."#avfc #UTV

Villa play Burnley at home on Thursday night before finishing the Premier League season away at Man City on Sunday, and so it seems unlikely that Konsa will now appear in either of those two games, if the concern is proven correct.
That said, the results of the MRI scan will no doubt tell us more about the severity of the issue, and so it’s hoped that it isn’t a setback that will keep him sidelined for too long.
It promises to be a crucial summer this year with Gerrard preparing for his first pre-season as Villa boss, and so combined with new faces that will undoubtedly arrive in the summer transfer window, Konsa will be desperate to play a full part in training and our schedule ahead of next season rather than be left behind in rehabilitation for any injury.
