Villa receive crucial double injury boost in training ahead of Juventus clash

Aston Villa face Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Unai Emery may potentially have positive news on the injury front ahead of the encounter.

Our disappointing form continued this past weekend after we held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace at home, which now makes it six games without a win across all competitions.

It had been hoped that the international break came at a perfect time for us to reset and regroup, but ultimately it didn’t have the desired effect in terms of the result on Saturday, while we were dealing with a number of injury blows which made the task more challenging.

Fortunately, there could be good news ahead of our showdown with Juventus on Wednesday night, as seen in the images below taken from training on Monday, as both Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara were seen taking part in the session alongside their Villa teammates.

Konsa was sidelined by a hip problem that he sustained while on international duty with England, while Kamara suffered a hamstring strain in our defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.

It’s unclear at this stage if the pair will get the green light to feature in midweek, but it’s certainly a positive sign ahead of the Juventus game at least, as they’ll look to be involved against Chelsea this weekend if they don’t make it back in time to face the Turin giants.

Emery will address the media ahead of our Champions League clash and will undoubtedly provide our latest team news, as we’ll also hope for positive updates on Amadou Onana and Jacob Ramsey after they were both absent this past weekend too with a foot and hamstring issue respectively.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Palace game, Emery did suggest that it would be Onana and Konsa who could return first as they had suffered small injuries, but after getting Matty Cash and Ross Barkley back in our last outing, it’s hoped that we’re moving closer towards having a full-strength squad at Emery’s disposal once again with this latest development as we look to rediscover some winning form.
