Aston Villa’s Matty Cash has posted an update on his recovery on Instagram as the right-back steps up his rehabilitation following a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old missed the final three games of the Premier League season with the issue, while a similar problem also sidelined him earlier in the campaign.

In turn, he wasn’t risked in those last few games and he’ll likely have spent the time since allowing the injury to heal while steadily stepping up his recovery.
As seen in the video below though, he was delighted to be back working with the ball at his feet on Friday as he returned to Villa’s training complex to go through his paces.
The squad isn’t expected back until early July for pre-season training, while those on international duty currently will get an extended break.
That hasn’t stopped Cash from reporting back ahead of time to go through the next stage of his rehabilitation, and he’ll be hoping that he can come through without any setbacks in the coming weeks and get a solid pre-season under his belt to be back at 100 percent ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Particularly with a lack of quality depth in that role, Cash will no doubt be vital for Dean Smith again next season, but it’s hoped that Villa will add another option in that department before the summer transfer window closes.
For now though, it’s a huge boost for all concerned to see Cash back working with the ball and edging ever closer to a full recovery from his injury setback.
