Aston Villa are closing in on receiving a major injury boost as Pau Torres is seemingly now on the verge of making his comeback.
The 28-year-old has been sidelined since the end of December after sustaining a broken metatarsal, and his presence has certainly been missed since.

Albeit Villa have had defensive woes all season, we’ve been unable to fix them and find solutions without Torres, while losing an influential figure in relation to how we build our play out from the back with his composure and technical ability.
In turn, Unai Emery will no doubt be delighted to welcome him back to the fold, and it appears as though that could happen sooner rather than later.
As seen in his Instagram post below, Torres provided an update this weekend on his comeback, and he appears to now be fully back involved in group training at Bodymoor Heath, and hopefully that’s the clearest indication yet that he’ll be in contention in our upcoming games.
Villa travel to face Club Brugge in the first leg of our round-of-16 Champions League tie on Tuesday evening before heading to Brentford next Saturday, and with difficult games coming up across all competitions, it will be such an important boost to have Torres back available.
Particularly so given Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and our other defensive options have had injury issues of their own in recent weeks and have had to take on a bigger workload as we’ve been short of numbers, it’s hoped that we’re finally now moving towards having a fully-fit squad available again.
As noted above, Pau’s quality on the ball makes such an important difference to how we play, and especially with European games coming up, he’ll be invaluable for Emery to set the tone in defence and help us maintain control and possession more effectively as the pressure builds.
Pauuuu!
