Positive news as long-term Villa injury absentee shares promising update

Aston Villa have received positive news on the injury front already this week, and Tyrone Mings has added another encouraging update in his recovery.

Villa have had rotten luck with injuries over the course of the season thus far, with the likes of Mings, Emiliano Buendia and Boubacar Kamara suffering long-term setbacks, while other key individuals have been forced to miss time at various points too.

Fortunately, this has been a better week, as Buendia was the first to share an encouraging update, as the Argentine playmaker was back going through drills with the coaching staff and doing ball work for the first time since he sustained a serious knee injury last August.

Shortly after that, Matty Cash suggested that he’s close to returning from the hamstring injury he picked up last month while on international duty, and so in the short-term, that’s a massive boost for Emery given the necessity to play Ezri Konsa at right-back in the Polish defender’s absence.

Now, it’s Mings who has provided another important boost, as shortly after Buendia revealed that he’s back working with the ball, the commanding Villa centre-half has followed suit, as seen below.

Mings has been sidelined with a serious knee injury of his own since our Premier League season opener against Newcastle last August, with Buendia suffering his setback just days before.

It appears as though the Villa pair are at a similar point in their respective recoveries though, and it’s so good to see them back outside at Bodymoor Heath and stepping up their workload.

Naturally, given the severity of their injuries, there is still a long way to go before they return to the pitch, and it’s hoped that there are no late setbacks for either of them.

While the expectation is that we won’t see them again this season, if that is indeed the case, it’s imperative that they are ready for a full pre-season, as aside from getting in consistent group sessions at the training ground, they’ll need minutes to build their match fitness and sharpness back up to the level required.

For now though, it’s such a lift seeing both Buendia and Mings at this stage of their comebacks, and hopefully we’ll have positive updates from now until the end of the season on the rest of the squad.
