Loanee tipped for Villa return after injury-hit stint away

Aston Villa loanee Kortney Hause is reportedly set to return to the club from his loan spell at Watford, which is expected to be terminated early.

The 27-year-old secured a season-long loan move to the Hornets last summer, as his struggles for a more prominent role at Villa continued.

However, it hasn’t gone to plan for him at Vicarage Road, as he has been limited to just three appearances so far this season, totalling 190 minutes of football.

That has largely been down to a knee injury that he suffered – which is still expected to sideline him for another six weeks – and so a decision over his future has seemingly been made.

According to The Athletic, Hause’s loan spell with Watford is expected to be terminated early and he will return to Villa, with the clubs currently said to be in discussions to resolve the matter.

It’s understandable from Watford’s perspective, and ultimately once Hause has recovered from his injury, the expectation will be that he is shipped out on loan again elsewhere or is perhaps sold in a permanent deal, depending on whether or not Unai Emery sees a role for him in his plans moving forward.

The Villa boss is likely to now start making his mark on the squad by bringing in his own players to help implement and execute his style and ideas, and so it seems like a very difficult challenge for Hause to force his way into those plans.

Given he was already down the pecking order below the likes of Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Diego Carlos, that situation won’t have changed and so it would seem highly unlikely that there would be a significant change in fortunes for him at Villa.
