Personal terms agreed as Villa move closer to sealing important swoop

Aston Villa have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Marcus Rashford as he nears a loan move from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, and speculation has subsequently linked him with a move to a number of clubs over the course of the January transfer window.

As per Fabrizio Romano, it looks as though Villa have ultimately won the race to convince him over a move, as we’ve now agreed personal terms with the England international to take a big step towards completing a deal.

While there are still details to finalise, Rashford is expected to join us on loan for the remainder of the season, while the agreement is likely to include an option to buy in the summer.

Further, it was previously reported by David Ornstein that Villa will cover a ‘significant portion’ of his salary along with performance-related bonuses, and so with all parties moving forward to seal the touted move, it looks as though an announcement could be imminent.

Villa completed the sale of Jhon Duran to Al Nassr this week, while Emiliano Buendia departed on loan to join Bayer Leverkusen. That leaves Unai Emery short of options in the attacking third, and so that has been identified as a priority ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

While it remains to be seen if we move for another target to improve that area of the squad, Rashford will hopefully prove to be an excellent addition as he looks to rebuild his career after a difficult couple of years at Man Utd, and time will tell if that ultimately results in a permanent switch to Villa Park.

Emery will no doubt relish the chance to work with him and help him reach his best form again, should the deal be completed, and combined with Morgan Rogers, Jacob Ramsey, Leon Bailey and Donyell Malen being available to play behind Ollie Watkins, Rashford could be an exciting and dangerous addition to that group to provide us with a fresh dynamic and threat in the final third.
