Villa chief confirms date for highly-anticipated new kit launch

Aston Villa’s President of Business Operations, Chris Heck, has confirmed that the club’s new kit will be launched on Tuesday July 23 as fans continue to eagerly await its release.

After confirming that Villa had secured a partnership with Adidas earlier this year, coupled with a new front-of-shirt sponsor in Betano, there has been significant interest in our new look as we embark on a big season, which includes participating in the Champions League.

While the hope was that it would be unveiled in time for the start of pre-season, Villa wore a special kit against Walsall on Wednesday night, and will do so again on Saturday against Spartak Trnava, which will be auctioned at a later date with the proceeds going to the Aston Villa Foundation.

After the issues that eventually blighted our kits last season with manufacturer Castore and the significance of now partnering with a giant in Adidas, the wait is almost over as Heck confirmed that the new kit will be launched next week, as per his tweet below.

This season’s kit will also of course have our new crest on it, as well as the marque to celebrate our 150th anniversary, and so it will all no doubt lead to significant demand from Villa fans who will be itching to get their hands on the new home jersey on its release.

From a financial perspective, it’s also huge for the club, as detailed by Heck in previous interviews. The Villa chief has noted that we’ve effectively doubled our sponsorship deals compared to last season’s agreements, and ultimately that will be fundamental moving forward in our efforts to drive up revenue and become more sustainable.

That in turn will help fund improvements around the club and strengthen the playing squad, and so both the sporting and business departments are working in unison to ensure that Villa are developing into a force both on and off the pitch.

For most fans though, the new kit itself signals a new era at the club, with Unai Emery hopefully continuing to drive us forward and achieving more success in the coming years, and linking up with Adidas is certainly a big statement in our bid to build our global brand and continue to see growth.
