Aston Villa are set to complete the signing of Villarreal defender Pau Torres, but his medical isn’t expected to take place until next week at the earliest.
As per The Athletic, an agreement has been reached between the two clubs on a transfer while personal terms have also been agreed, and so the expectation is that the move will become official in the coming days.

The 26-year-old would be a major statement of Villa’s intent this summer given his quality and experience, and it’s hoped that Unai Emery is able to bring him into his pre-season plans as soon as possible.
According to Fabrizio Romano, we may have to wait a little longer for the Spanish international to undergo his medical and complete the formalities of his move, as he’s reported that Torres is still on holiday and will travel to the UK after he returns.
While he hasn’t provided an exact timeframe, it’s likely that this will happen next week to complete the move before the squad returns for pre-season training, while Romano adds that documents are expected to be signed by the two clubs in the meantime.
Further, he also provides additional insight on the transfer fee involved in the move, as it’s said to be worth an initial €32.5m, plus €5m in add-ons.
Considering reports in Spain, via Cope, noted that Torres had a €65m release clause in his Villarreal contract despite only having a year left on it, that’s excellent business from Villa, with the tweet also suggesting that incoming President of Football Operations, Monchi, has had a big influence on the deal too.
With Youri Tielemans also set to be unveiled by Villa next week as he is set to join us on a free transfer on July 1, it promises to be a busy period for the club on and off the pitch, and it’s hoped that there are further reinforcements on their way to continue to strengthen Emery’s squad ahead of a big season for us.
