Aston Villa have confirmed two more pre-season friendlies this summer, as our schedule continues to take shape ahead of next season.
With the hope that Unai Emery will be helping reinforcements adapt and settle in as we look to build on a brilliant season last year, our summer outings will be a crucial part of our preparations.

Further, it will also give several key individuals an opportunity to get back to full match fitness and sharpness after lengthy spells out due to injury last season, with Tyrone Mings, Emiliano Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and others all looking to get valuable minutes ahead of a big comeback.
In turn, it’s imperative that we have a packed fixture list with difficult tests to get us back up to speed and ready for the big challenges ahead, and Villa have confirmed two more fixtures for this summer.
As per the club’s statement, we’ll face Spartak Trnava on July 20, while Athletic Bilbao will travel to the Bescot Stadium on August 7, as we have two mouth-watering games against top European opposition to wrap up our pre-season run, which will hopefully give us important experience ahead of our Champions League campaign.
There’s a good balance to our schedule with the bulk of our work being done in the USA from the end of July to early August, and Emery will hopefully feel as though his squad is in a great place by the time we get the new Premier League season underway on the weekend of August 17-18.
As always, it’s hoped that we come through unscathed in terms of injuries and the entire squad gets opportunities to build their fitness and impress, and ultimately we’ll hopefully be in a position to start the new season positively.
