Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed that Tyrone Mings is set to remain sidelined by injury for another month.
The Villa stalwart suffered a hamstring injury during our 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the start of the month, and he has been ruled out of action since.
Fortunately from a Villa perspective, Emery has been able to lean on Pau Torres to play that left-sided centre-half role to a high level during Mings’ absence, but naturally it would be a boost to have as close to a fully-fit squad as possible, especially at this time of the year when the fixture schedule is hectic.

However, Emery has confirmed that the 32-year-old is likely to remain unavailable for another month at least as he continues his recovery, but there was better news on the team news front ahead of our clash with Wolves this weekend, as the Villa boss doesn’t have any fresh injury concerns after our 2-1 win over Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday night.
“Tyrone is not available until, more or less, one month more,” Emery said, as per VillaTV.
“Other players, at the moment, after we played yesterday, we worked with the players who played less and they trained good.
“Other players were recovering.
“Tomorrow, we’ll train in the afternoon as well and we’ll see it.
“But hopefully no problems.”
It was good to see both Andres Garcia and Harvey Elliott make the matchday squad in midweek, as aside from Mings, Villa are now at full strength and that gives Emery the flexibility and depth to rotate and use different tactical solutions when needed.
Villa have been in excellent form over the past couple of months having won 10 of our last 12 games across all competitions, and so hopefully we can keep that run going against Wolves on Sunday with an away trip to Brighton to follow quickly next week as we enter the festive period.
With Victor Lindelof and Lamare Bogarde also at Emery’s disposal, we’ve got enough depth to cover for Mings while he continues his recovery, but the partnership of Pau and Ezri Konsa has certainly been a fundamental factor in our improved results in recent weeks, and it’s hoped that continues this weekend and beyond.
