Aston Villa defender Andres Garcia is reportedly close to completing a loan move to Getafe with an agreement touted between the two clubs.
The 23-year-old joined us from Levante in January 2025 but has been limited to just 18 appearances and 615 minutes of playing time since, as he has struggled with injuries throughout his time with us thus far and hasn’t been able to push Matty Cash at right-back for a bigger role.
In turn, with Villa needing more quality and reliability in that position moving forward to help us compete across multiple fronts and take some of the strain off Cash, it appears as though the club is ready for a reshuffle in that department.

According to Marca, Garcia is now closing in on a move to Getafe on loan as it’s reported that an agreement has been reached between the La Liga outfit and Villa, and so he may well spend the upcoming season back in Spain.
Given the reasons mentioned above regarding his lack of availability, it seems like a sensible decision from Villa, who were linked with a move for Emerson Royal earlier this summer but that speculation has tailed off in recent weeks.
Should Garcia depart though, that will likely become a priority for Unai Emery and the club again as we’ll need to bolster our options in that position, as it seems unlikely that Triston Rowe will be promoted into a back-up role despite his productive loan spell at Annecy last season.
It appears to be a summer of change for Villa as speculation suggests that we’re on the verge of some significant incomings and outgoings, but replacing Garcia with an upgrade who can really provide genuine competition for Cash is the right move, and time will tell firstly if the Spaniard gets his loan switch and subsequently earns a permanent move, and who will emerge as his replacement in the coming weeks should his deal go through.
