Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Andres Garcia from Levante as he’s reportedly now flown in to undergo his medical.
The 21-year-old established himself as a key figure for the Spanish outfit, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 23 appearances so far this season to go with his defensive duties as a right-back.

Despite operating in the second tier of Spanish football, he has evidently caught the eye of Unai Emery, Monchi and our scouting department, as he looks set to emerge as our preferred solution to strengthen in that position.
As per Deportes COPE Valencia, Garcia was interviewed ahead of travelling to England to undergo his medical, with Villa expected to wrap up his signing in a deal said to be worth €7m plus €2m in add-ons. Fabrizio Romano had already reported this weekend that Villa consider the ‘deal sealed’ for Garcia with his medical booked, and so that looks to be materialising.
Time will tell when the formalities of the transfer are completed, as Emery will no doubt be eager to get any further signings in the door as soon as possible and start to integrate them into this squad.
Villa have already sealed a move for Donyell Malen this month, and he was named on the bench in our 2-2 draw with Arsenal this weekend despite only having a couple of days to work with his new teammates, and so Garcia could follow a similar path once he has arrived.
The Spaniard will be an important addition for Emery to provide him with competition for Matty Cash at right-back, while at the very least he will give us cover in that department, with Kosta Nedeljkovic being paired with a loan exit this month.
As noted above, the fact that he has emerged as our preferred option would suggest that he’s deemed an excellent fit for our style of play and system, and so should a deal go through as expected, it will be fascinating to see his progression in the coming months.
