Aston Villa transfer news: Buendia interest, €40m price-tag touted

Aston Villa are reportedly one of many clubs with an interest in signing Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia this summer.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Canaries this year, scoring 14 goals and providing 17 assists in 40 appearances to help fire them back into the Premier League.

That in itself will arguably make a swoop difficult, as Buendia could be keen on staying at Carrow Road in order to help Norwich stay up next season and continue their progress together.

However, it seems as though he will have a decision to make over his future, as Foot Mercato report that a string of clubs are keen on him, with Villa specifically named as one of them.

It’s added Crystal Palace, West Ham Utd, Leeds Utd, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Villarreal are also keeping tabs on him with the view of a potential move in the summer transfer window.

Further, it’s suggested in the report that while Norwich prefer to keep him at the club, they will not accept anything less than €40m.

Ollie Watkins and Jack Grealish have no doubt established themselves as our key players in the final third, and adding more quality around them to make us a more clinical side will be a priority this summer.

The likes of Anwar El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet have made significant contributions, but inconsistency has been a problem for them which will hinder us if we wish to compete at the top level, while Ross Barkley looks set to return to Chelsea when his loan spell expires at the end of the campaign.

In turn, Villa will certainly be in the market for attacking players ahead of next season, and Buendia, fresh from a brilliant season in the Championship, could be a player that we identify as a solution to add more firepower and creative quality to the line-up.
