Aston Villa are reportedly focusing their attention on a double swoop for Chelsea duo Axel Disasi and Joao Felix ahead of the transfer deadline.
Villa have been active in this January transfer window already with the signings of Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia, while both Jaden Philogene and Diego Carlos have moved on.

Coupled with injuries to Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings though, our centre-half options have diminished over the past month as we’ve been left with Ezri Konsa as our only senior option available, and that has to be the priority for the club in the last few days of this transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Disasi is seemingly now the priority for that position as personal terms have been agreed, and he stresses that the Chelsea defender is adamant about joining Villa over other interested parties.
Further, he notes that a direct conversation took place with Unai Emery, and so evidently the Villa boss believes that the French international would be an important addition to his squad and a good fit for his system and style.
Time will tell if a deal can be done between the two clubs to ensure the switch materialises, be it a straight loan move or with an option to buy included in the agreement, but that isn’t the only piece of business that Villa and Chelsea could do this week.
Romano also reports that Villa have opened talks with Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, with the Portuguese playmaker a priority target for Emery having been linked with a move to join us in the previous two transfer windows. It comes at a time when Emiliano Buendia is said to be nearing a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen, and so that makes adding another attacking option an important requirement this week.
Similarly to Disasi, there is no deal between the clubs currently and so that will be the first major obstacle, while in contrast to that pursuit, there has been no indication as of yet that Felix is open to the move or that an agreement can be reached on personal terms.
What the two reports above do suggest though is that Villa have two clear transfer targets in mind in Disasi and Felix to strengthen Emery’s squad with options that he wants, and while further outgoings are expected to make space and give us additional financial flexibility, it’s important that we continue to raise the level with signings that suit the Villa boss and what he’s continuing to build at the club.
