Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is reportedly of interest to Inter as they look to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer.
The 33-year-old has been a fundamental figure for us since arriving in 2020, going on to make 233 appearances for the club and playing a key role in our ongoing progress.
However, after significant speculation over his future last summer failed to result in an exit, there are lingering question marks over whether or not he’ll still be a Villa player beyond this summer, as rumours have already started to link him with a move elsewhere again.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter have added the Argentine international to their shortlist of potential transfer targets for the end of the season, and so time will tell if that ultimately develops into the Serie A giants making an offer for him, and in turn whether or not agreements can be reached to facilitate such a move.
It’s added that Martinez’s salary could be a sticking point as he’d likely have to take a wage cut in order for the move to happen, but it remains to be seen if Inter can even satisfy Villa’s demands initially.
Martinez remains one the best players in his position, but as we’ve seen this season on a number of occasions, errors are creeping into his game and they are proving to be costly.
We saw that again this past weekend as he failed to deal with a tame effort on goal, which resulted in the only goal of the game as we lost to Everton, while he has come under fire this year for not commanding his box effectively enough.
With that in mind, would Villa now be open to approving an exit for him? And importantly, who would replace him?
Those are questions that we may well be asking ourselves in the summer, but for now, it’s hoped that he can continue to be the top-class goalkeeper he is capable of being and has been for many years, and leads us to success between now and the end of the season.
