Aston Villa transfer news: Interest in £35m+ rated Buendia renewed

Aston Villa have reportedly renewed their interest in Norwich City ace Emiliano Buendia as we look to bolster our attacking options for next season.

Villa have scored 53 goals in 37 Premier League games so far this season, a decent improvement on our haul of 41 last season.

That said, there is a big burden on Jack Grealish’s shoulders to be our creative spark in the final third, and his absence for 13 games due to injury undoubtedly had a hugely negative impact on us in recent months.

In turn, adding more quality in that department will no doubt be a priority for the Villa hierarchy this summer to compliment our captain and also to share that responsibility, and it appears as though a top target could be emerging.

As reported by Sky Sports, Villa have renewed their interest in Buendia, although we could face competition for his signature if he does leave Carrow Road, as Arsenal are also said to be keen.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign this past year, scoring 15 goals and providing 17 assists in 41 appearances for the Canaries as he played an integral role in their promotion from the Championship.

With that in mind, it arguably makes little sense for Norwich to green light an exit this summer as they prepare for a return to the top flight, but it’s suggested in the report above that they value Buendia at between £35m to £40m, and manager Daniel Farke has spoken about not necessarily being in opposition to listening to ‘crazy offers’.

Buendia created the most chances in the Championship last season and had the most assists of any player. If we’re to add another clinical dynamic to our attack, he could be a top solution, but it remains to be seen if Villa can fend off the competition and convince the Argentine to accept a move to Birmingham to be part of our continued progress moving forward.
