Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Hull City defender Jacob Greaves, but face competition from other Premier League sides for his signature.
This summer is expected to be a busy one for Villa, as boss Unai Emery will undoubtedly get the backing of the hierarchy to make signings to continue to strengthen and mould the current squad into his own.

Speculation has already been rife over potential transfer targets, and according to the Daily Mail, we can add another name to the pot as it’s reported that Greaves is being monitored by us, as well as Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
It’s added that he’s valued at around £7m, and so time will tell if Villa are convinced enough by the 22-year-old’s talent and potential to invest, or if we look elsewhere the closer we get to the summer transfer window.
With an ability to play either as a centre-half or left-back, the Hull defender could be a useful addition to the squad in order to provide further competition and depth for the likes of Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno.
However, having only just signed Moreno in January coupled with Diego Carlos’ return from a long-term injury this month, it seems as though we should have enough options on that side of the defence moving forward.
It’s arguably on the right side where we could do with another option to compete with Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash, while looking for a longer-term replacement for Ashley Young, who of course can also play on the left side if required too.
Having now made 123 appearances for Hull, Greaves has gained plenty of experience and developed his game to suggest he could be ready for the next step, but time will tell if he’s seen as the best possible option by Emery, who will no doubt have a big say in transfers this summer and could look elsewhere in markets abroad to perhaps strengthen his squad.
Nevertheless, it’s an interesting link and we’ll see in the coming months if Greaves becomes a priority target heading into the summer as we look to bolster our defensive options.
