Aston Villa are reportedly one of the clubs keeping tabs on Norwich City youngster Jonathan Rowe, amid speculation over his future.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder/winger came through the ranks with the Canaries before making his senior debut in 2021, but he’s certainly starting to make a bigger impression so far in this campaign.

Rowe has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 13 appearances in the Championship this season, and so unsurprisingly that has led to reports of interest building from elsewhere in acquiring his services.
According to the Daily Mail, Villa are one of the clubs that are monitoring his progress, but should our interest develop, it’s likely we’ll face competition from other Premier League sides including Crystal Palace, who are also explicitly named in the report.
It’s also noted that Norwich are keen to agree on a new contract with the talented youngster and early talks are underway with his current deal running until 2025, but should an exit become more likely, they’re said to be expecting to sell for around £20m.
Time will tell if Villa are among those pushing to land his signature, as Unai Emery will undoubtedly continue to analyse ways in which we can improve the group, and working in tandem with President of Football Operations, Monchi, they’ll try to identify the players who are hopefully the ideal fit for us.
Villa do have a number of options in that area of the squad already with Jacob Ramsey, Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby, Emiliano Buendia, Bertrand Traore and loanee Nicolo Zaniolo all playing either wide or in advanced attacking roles. Naturally though, we’ll be continuously looking at ways to improve the squad, and so it remains to be seen if Rowe is targeted as a reinforcement.
It will also be intriguing to see how much business we are planning to do in January to strengthen the group for the second half of the season, or if we wait until next summer to do the bulk of our work again.
