The 24-year-old has made 86 appearances for Villa to date, scoring just six goals and providing seven assists.

Having spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest where he played a pivotal role in their promotion back to the Premier League, there was a decision needed from Steven Gerrard as to whether he had done enough to earn a shot at proving himself in the Villa squad or if we would offload him again.
As confirmed by the club, it’s the latter that has been chosen with Davis now set to spend the season on loan at Watford where he’ll hope to help them return to the English top flight too.
With his current Villa contract set to expire in 2024, it remains to be seen what this latest move means for Davis, as ultimately it doesn’t appear as though he has a long-term future at Villa Park.
Coupled with his Instagram post seen below which sounded much like a more permanent farewell, the fact that he still can’t find space in the Villa squad under Gerrard would suggest that we’re happy with our options and consider him to be on the market.
Another successful loan stint in the Championship could help Davis secure a more permanent solution in terms of his career ambitions, and so it’s hoped that he enjoys a productive spell and and enjoys significant playing time this season, something he wouldn’t have got at Villa.
