Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who is currently on loan at Villarreal.
The 27-year-old made 84 appearances for Spurs prior to his temporary exit last year, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in those outings.

He has also enjoyed spells at Paris Saint-Germain, Real Betis and now Villarreal, while he has earned 42 caps for Argentina.
According to TyC Sports, Villa have ‘sounded out’ a move for the midfielder, but as of yet, a formal bid hasn’t been submitted, albeit it’s suggested in the report that the expectation is that there will be one as we move closer towards the summer transfer market.
It’s expected that Emery will be backed heavily this summer to strengthen his squad, which will allow him to mould it into his own too, and so reinforcements of a high level should hopefully arrive as he has insisted that he only wants to sign players who significantly improve what we already have.
While we do have options in midfield, time will tell if those currently in the squad all have long-term futures at Villa, although conversely, if we do wish to compete on multiple fronts moving forward and potentially have Europe to consider next season too, then we’ll need quality depth and competition right across the squad.
Lo Celso has shown his ability at both club and international level, and has gained an important, and significant, amount of experience through his career thus far.
Further, given his characteristics and attributes, he could be a good fit for Emery’s style of play and system in terms of what he’s trying to build and develop at Villa, and so time will tell if the touted interest in the Argentine midfielder progresses into something more and an offer is eventually submitted to Tottenham to acquire him this summer.
