Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers was reportedly the subject of interest from Tottenham, but that speculation has almost immediately been dismissed.
The 23-year-old has firmly established himself as a fundamental figure under Unai Emery since arriving in January 2024, having contributed 17 goals and 17 assists in 71 appearances.

Beyond those goal involvements though, Rogers has also become a crucial cog in our system and style of play, and there is undoubtedly plenty more potential to fulfil at Villa with a big future ahead of him for club and country as he continues to thrive and improve under the Basque coach.
It had been reported earlier on Thursday that Tottenham had possibly set their sights on the England international and were exploring a possible proposal, but Sky Sports’ Michael Bridges has dismissed that entirely as he reports that there is no truth in the story.
Furthermore, although he doesn’t explicitly mention Rogers or this particular transfer rumour, the timing of this social post on X from Villa’s Director of Football, Damian Vidagany, would also seemingly dismiss the rumour, as he encouraged Villa fans to ignore speculation.
Having already sold Jacob Ramsey in this transfer window, coupled with the exits of Leon Bailey, Enzo Barrenechea, Philippe Coutinho, Leander Dendoncker and others, Villa are hopefully now in a much more positive position when it comes to complying with UEFA’s financial regulations, as per our settlement agreement with the governing body.
After the club sold the Women’s team earlier this summer, it’s understood that PSR is no longer an immediate concern, and so there is no pressure on Villa to sell another top asset, albeit it would be helpful if we could continue to reduce our wage bill to ensure we’re within the necessary parameters over the next three years.
Selling a pivotal player with just over a week until the transfer window deadline though surely isn’t on the agenda, and so while rumours will no doubt continue to swirl, it’s hoped that our significant outgoings are now done, and the focus is now on trimming the squad where possible, while focusing on bringing in reinforcements to strengthen the squad.
