Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen is reportedly wanted by FC Copenhagen this month, and talks are underway over a possible transfer.
The 35-year-old joined us in an initial loan deal from Roma in January 2022 before being signed on a permanent basis the following summer.

Olsen has gone on to make just 18 appearances for the club since, as he’s unsurprisingly been severely limited given he’s served as back-up to Emiliano Martinez throughout that spell.
While that won’t change anytime soon, Tipsbladet in Denmark have reported that FC Copenhagen want to re-sign the Swedish shot-stopper, and they are in talks with Villa officials over a possible transfer.
It remains to be seen if an agreement is reached between the two clubs, but given Olsen has just six months remaining on his current contract, if Villa are able to receive a fee for him this month rather than lose him for free in June, it’s surely something that the club must explore.
Naturally, that would leave us light for the remainder of this season unless a signing is made in that department, but moving Olsen on would also give more room and opportunity to Joe Gauci, who is expected to be our long-term No.2 behind Martinez.
Villa also have talented youngster Filip Marschall out on loan while Oliwier Zych is highly-rated and recently signed a new contract, and so our future looks bright between the posts with Martinez continuing to set the standard for them to follow.
Olsen has been an important presence during his time with us with his experience and quality, and Emery has never been shy in praising the stalwart when he’s been called upon, despite not always being entirely convincing and delivering performances to the level needed.
However, it does feel as though this is an opportunity that Villa shouldn’t pass up to move him on if a formal offer is submitted, and perhaps we’ll even see the club move to bring in a replacement this month to ensure that we’re not left short.
