Aston Villa are reportedly advancing in our pursuit of Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham as we look to seal a reunion with him this month.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful loan stint with us in the 2018/19 campaign, playing a key role in our promotion back to the Premier League.
He has since had spells with Chelsea, Roma and AC Milan, while he joined Besiktas last summer in an initial loan deal, which is now believed to have become a permanent switch after their obligation to buy was triggered.

Abraham has scored 12 goals and provided three assists for the Turkish outfit in 24 appearances thus far, but it appears as though he could be on the move again soon, with a return to Villa being touted.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Abraham has ‘opened the doors’ to a move to join us, with personal terms not expected to be an issue. However, there is no agreement in place between the two clubs as of yet, and so it remains to be seen if that particular obstacle can be overcome to allow the switch to materialise.
Meanwhile, The Times report that Villa are closing in a swoop after offering Abraham a four-and-a-half year deal.
With Donyell Malen pictured in Italy on Wednesday as he looks set to complete a move to Roma, Villa need to replace him and add attacking reinforcements this month to ensure that Unai Emery has enough firepower to sustain our push for success this season and beyond.
While it’s a disappointing loss to see Malen move on, Abraham would give us a different dynamic in the final third to offer Emery a new tactical solution with his goal threat in and around the box and his ability to be more of a focal point, and so it’s hoped that this potential reshuffle from Villa proves to be a sensible one that produces positive results.
Time will tell if the pieces fall into place, but it certainly sounds as though Abraham could be returning for a second spell with us, and it will hopefully prove to be even more fruitful than his first.
