Aston Villa are reportedly waiting on Tyler Adams’ decision on his future to determine if we make a £25m move for the Leeds Utd midfielder this summer.
Despite an ultimately disappointing season for him as Leeds suffered relegation from the Premier League, while the 24-year-old was also ruled out of action with a hamstring from mid-March, he showed his quality in 26 appearances last year and built on his impressive stint at RB Leipzig.

With 36 caps for the USA to his name too, Adams has a lot of experience in a relatively young career, and it’s expected that he will move on this summer with a decision on his future likely in the coming weeks.
According to The Daily Mail, Villa are awaiting an answer from the midfielder amid strong interest from elsewhere in the Premier League, but it’s noted that we’re willing to trigger his £25m relegation clause in order to add him to Unai Emery’s squad.
It’s added that Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and West Ham Utd are all keen on the USA international too, and so it remains to be seen if he does indeed depart Elland Road this month, and who he ultimately opts to join if his release clause is met by more than one club.
With his tenacity, mobility, work-rate and technical ability coupled with his versatility to play both in midfield and on the right side of a defence, there are a lot of attributes that make Adams an appealing option to strengthen our squad.
Those make him a good fit for Emery’s style and how he wants his team to play, and although we already have plenty of quality in our midfield department, adding further competition will certainly help us compete on multiple fronts as we also target success in Europe in the upcoming campaign.
While Villa have already signed Youri Tielemans this summer, we have also offloaded Morgan Sanson and Marvelous Nakamba, while there were question marks raised over Leander Dendoncker’s future at the club last month.
Should that third exit materialise, it will arguably open up a spot in our midfield to bring in another new face who is perhaps better suited to Emery’s demands. While Dendoncker has done an excellent job for the most part when stepping into the side and offers important characteristics that are perhaps lacking in our other players, Emery will have a clear idea of what we still need to improve to build on last season.
