Aston Villa have confirmed that Wesley has joined Levante on loan until the end of the season after his previous stint at Internacional came to an end.
The 25-year-old joined Villa in 2019 but after suffering a serious knee injury, his time at the club has been difficult as he spent a significant amount of time working hard on his recovery before struggling to break back into the side.

That in turn led to a loan move to former club Club Brugge, and while that didn’t work out, he returned to his homeland Brazil looking to gain valuable playing time and try to rediscover his best form.
He’ll be hoping to do that in Spain now with Levante, with Villa confirming via a club statement that it is a season-long loan deal, with Wesley now hoping to fire the club back towards securing a return to La Liga.
Given the difficulties that he has gone through over the past two years, from his rehabilitation after the knee injury to moving around on different loan deals, it’s hoped Wesley can now settle at Levante and get amongst the goals on a regular basis.
While it’s questionable as to whether he can still play his way into Steven Gerrard’s long-term plans at Villa, for the sake of his career and his success moving forward, a positive stint in Spain could help him kick on and showcase the quality that earned him the move to Villa in the first place.
Naturally, given the big fee spent to sign him and the desire to see him shine at Villa after such difficult times, there is still a slight hope we might see Wesley appear for the club again in the future. While that does seem highly unlikely, it’s just hoped for now that he can enjoy his football at Levante in the upcoming campaign.
