Aston Villa face Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday night, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the encounter.
As per the club’s post below, the Villa boss has made four changes to the side that defeated Wolves this past weekend, with Ian Maatsen, Amadou Onana, Evann Guessand and Ollie Watkins returning to the XI in place of Lucas Digne, Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendia and Donyell Malen.
Despite Ross Barkley’s injury setback and Tyrone Mings’ ongoing absence, there is no place again for Harvey Elliott in the matchday squad, which will in turn once again raise doubts over his future at the club as he needs 10 appearances to trigger the option to sign him outright from Liverpool.

Emiliano Martinez continues in between the sticks, with Maatsen joined by Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash in forming our backline.
Onana partners Boubacar Kamara in the deeper midfield pivot, while Guessand will line up alongside John McGinn and Morgan Rogers behind Watkins in the final third.
It’s a strong Villa XI with excellent options on the bench to change the game if required, and so it’s hoped that we can maintain our impressive recent form and continue to cement our place at the top end of the Premier League standings.
Further, it would be a huge boost to see Watkins end his goal drought while Guessand could do with a decisive impact, but Emery will be focused on the bigger picture, and that’s securing all three points.
