Confirmed Villa XI vs Ipswich: Two changes with key debut, important boost

Aston Villa face Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the encounter.

There was good news from the Villa boss in his pre-match press conference on Friday as he confirmed that both Tyrone Mings and Ollie Watkins were back in training and would be involved this weekend.

However, Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley remain unavailable due to injury, and so it’s hoped that we’ll continue to get players back in the coming weeks to strengthen our options.

In turn, it was unclear as to how many changes Villa would make to the side that beat Tottenham in the FA Cup last time out, but as per the club’s post below, there are two tweaks from Emery with Axel Disasi and Watkins coming in for Konsa and Leon Bailey.

It’s a big debut for Disasi, and a big test for our backline as a whole, as they’ll look to give us a solid platform on which our attacking quality can go out and win the game.

Naturally, it’s an important boost to have Watkins back leading the line for us too, while Mings makes the bench as he closes in on a return.

Despite our absentees, it remains a strong Villa XI with important options on the bench, and although Ipswich will look to frustrate us and make it difficult to try and take something from the encounter, it’s hoped that we have the balance and creative quality to make the difference and secure all three points.

Both Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford will look to make a positive impact off the bench again, but time will tell what game scenario they face when coming on, as it’s hoped that we’re in a strong position at that stage.
