Confirmed Villa XI vs Liverpool: Three key changes, bench boost

Aston Villa face Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday night, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the encounter.

After the disappointment of being held to a draw by 10-man Ipswich Town last weekend, there’s hope that we’ll produce a positive reaction in midweek in what promises to be a difficult assignment against the league leaders.

Boubacar Kamara was the latest Villa ace to pick up an injury and was subsequently ruled out of this game by Emery in his pre-match press conference, but there was hope that others could be in contention to return.

However, as per the club’s post below, it’s Matty Cash alone who gives us a boost on the bench, while Villa make three changes from last time out with Tyrone Mings, Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford coming in to replace Kamara, Donyell Malen and Jacob Ramsey.

Both Rashford and Asensio have made a positive impact off the bench in their two appearances for the club thus far, and so while they have earned their opportunity in the Villa starting XI, it remains to be seen if they can have a similar influence from the start.

It’s a strong Villa line-up though despite our absentees along with a talented bench which gives Emery options to change the game if needed, but it’s imperative that we give a good account of ourselves and secure a positive result as we face a real battle between now and the end of the season to secure a European qualification spot.

Dropping points last weekend was far from ideal, but despite the difficulty of facing Arne Slot’s side, we have the ability and quality to get the desired outcome, and hopefully that starts with a positive performance from all.
