Confirmed Villa XI vs Nottingham Forest: Four key changes from Emery

Aston Villa host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the encounter.

As per Emery in his pre-match press conference on Friday, he confirmed that Amadou Onana is the latest player to be sidelined by injury after he was forced off at half-time in our defeat to Arsenal in midweek.

He joins Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings and Ross Barkley on the injury report, while neither Harvey Elliott nor Evann Guessand will feature with the latter on international duty with Ivory Coast, while Elliott’s loan spell at Villa could be cut short this month after Emery confirmed that the club will not trigger the clause to sign him on a permanent basis.

New signing Alysson will have to wait for his debut having only arrived late in the week, but there is better news with both Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara back available after the pair served a suspension against Arsenal.

As per the club’s post below, Emery has made four changes to the side that started at Arsenal, with Cash, Ian Maatsen, Kamara and John McGinn coming in to replace Lamare Bogarde, Lucas Digne, Onana and Jadon Sancho.

It’s a crucial boost getting Cash and Kamara back as the pair were undoubtedly missed at the Emirates, while McGinn will be raring to go after his rest despite coming on in the second half of that defeat.

Maatsen’s attacking quality down the left side will hopefully add more balance and different dynamics to the Villa side, and although we have been forced to include a number of top young talents on our bench, the likes of Sancho and Donyell Malen could be key in the latter stages, if needed.

The hope is that we’ll see a strong response from the team after our 11-game winning streak came to an end during the week, and we’ll have to be positive and at our best to ensure that we secure all three points this weekend.
