Aston Villa have announced that Ezri Konsa has signed a new long-term contract at the club, with a five-year deal being touted.
The 25-year-old joined us from Brentford in 2019, and has since gone on to make 145 appearances for the club.

As per the club’s statement, Konsa has put pen to paper on a new, long-term contract, while The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell has reported that it’s a five-year deal for the defensive ace.
It’s a deserved reward for Konsa given his consistent top form in the heart of our defence since he arrived, and he continues to improve and develop under Unai Emery with his best years hopefully still ahead of him.
Despite changes in management, styles of play and defensive partners, Konsa has been a mainstay in our backline for some time now, and although he has gone through dips in form like any other player, he has always responded well and shown his quality over time.
With his long-term future secured, it’s another important bit of business from Villa to keep our core in place, and we’ll hopefully continue to build on that foundation now to become increasingly competitive in the coming years.
For Konsa though, he will no doubt be delighted to commit his future to the club and focus on his football, and he’ll continue to flourish under Emery’s stewardship.
In addition to his defensive qualities and technical ability in possession which makes him an ideal fit for the Spanish tactician, his versatility also allows him to play at right-back when needed too, thus making him an even more important presence in the defence.
With Villa looking to compete on multiple fronts this season, Konsa will certainly play a fundamental role in that journey, and it’s brilliant to see him deservedly rewarded for what he’s contributed thus far.
