Why Villa ace’s plea must be met with positive reaction rather than backlash

Matty Cash has called upon Aston Villa fans to get behind the team, and it has seemingly led to a split in opinion in the reaction to his comments.

With Villa challenging for a Champions League qualification spot in a decisive final few weeks of the Premier League season, it’s been another year of progress and plenty of positive moments.

It can’t be denied that it’s been soured over the past fortnight though following a crushing defeat to Manchester City in the league in what could prove to be a decisive result in the battle for a top-five spot, but particularly due to our loss to Crystal Palace at Wembley in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

With many seeing that as our best chance at winning a trophy in some time, the frustration and disappointment caused by that specific result has undoubtedly dragged on as it’s been a hard one to get over and forget.

As fans though, particularly those who pay significant money to follow the team week in and week out, we absolutely have every right to voice our opinions and share both our happiness and frustration when suitable.

Cash has reflected on the current situation and feels that perhaps some fans are too quick to get on the players, and while there is arguably substance to that argument, it’s also important to stress the praise he gives the Villa faithful while ultimately making nothing more than a plea to supporters to help the team get over the line this season.

“I think sometimes people can get lost in it,” he is quoted as saying by BirminghamLive. “We lost at City, we lost at Wembley and it was all of a sudden like, wow, we are such a bad team. But the run we went on before was unbelievable.

“We went to Brighton and won 3-0, were dominating teams at home. We are just trying to keep the noise away and work on us. I think we have been fantastic the last couple of months. Nowadays, there is so much pressure to play. Just let us play and enjoy, you know? Try and win.

  1. Support the lads through thick and thin. Simple.
They don’t go out there to lose. Quite the opposite.
As with all clubs we’ve got some right moaners who unfortunately seem to make more noise than the more positive supporters, and then say they pay loads of money so they can say what they like. You can of course say what you like – Just get the timing right. Now ain’t the time.
We need the 12th man full force in full voice for these last 3 games. Thats when we’re at our best. Let’s go. 👊🏼💜🩵#utfv
