Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris has shared his delight after it was confirmed that Unai Emery has signed a contract extension until 2027.
After an exceptional 18 months of progression since he took charge, Emery will hope to guide us to Champions League qualification and a Europa Conference League trophy in the next month as we’ve reached a pivotal stage of the campaign.

It comes after a remarkable turnaround last season in his first few months at the helm, and that consistency and ongoing development has ultimately led to an extension being announced.
As he continues to build something special and a long-term project at Villa with an infrastructure around him that supports his vision and ambition, there is real excitement as to where we can go from our current position and the legacy that the Spanish tactician is capable of leaving on the club.
Unsurprisingly, Sawiris was delighted to announce the extension, and it’s clear from both his and Emery’s comments that their ambition doesn’t stop here, and we’ll continue to try and push on to greater heights.
“We are thrilled and are building a sporting operation around Unai to support him with a view of returning Aston Villa, a co-founder of the English Football League as we prepare to celebrate our 150th anniversary, to its historic levels of greatness,” Sawiris told the club’s official site.
The short-term focus will be on securing a top-four finish and silverware between now and the end of this season, and that in turn could be pivotal in the next stage of our progression and competitiveness on and off the pitch.
Sawiris was fundamental in appointing Emery to succeed Steven Gerrard in October 2022, and it’s clear that the pair have an important and strong relationship that will hopefully continue to lead to success for Villa moving forward.
Amid growing speculation in recent weeks of interest from elsewhere, Emery has committed himself to Villa, and having built a team around him that can provide support, implement his philosophy and principles and continue to strengthen the squad to become increasingly competitive, we hopefully have the pieces in place to sustain the level we’ve reached and kick on further.
