Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 29-year-old has been a fundamental figure for Villa since joining us from Arsenal in 2020, keeping 20 clean sheets in 58 appearances for the club and playing a pivotal role in our continued progression since then.

Further, he equalled a club record for clean sheets in a single Premier League campaign with 15 last year, while he was named Supporters’ Player of the Year in his debut season with us.
On top of that, he has enjoyed success at international level since making the switch to Villa, and he has now committed his long-term future to us as he looks to build on that and enjoy more triumphs moving forward.
As per the club’s official site, Martinez has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Villa Park until 2027, which is a huge boost for the club having a pillar of the side commit for such a lengthy period, not only in terms of securing his future and building around him, but using that as another indicator of the direction in which the club is going and how our ambitious plans are convincing key players to stay, and come here.
Martinez will undoubtedly have a big role to play for us, and it’s hoped that Villa can go from strength to strength by continuing to add the same calibre of player and character to the squad in other areas to ensure that we’re competing at the level that we want to be at in the coming years.
Surprise…
